The Hewitt Network

William Hewitt was a sergeant in the British Army and his unit was sent to the new world in 1775 to put down the Colonial Rebels. Instead he deserted, joined the Continental Army (First New Hampshire Regiment) and fought with George Washington. After the war he and his wife Sarah King settled in Barrettstown later called Hope, Maine. They had six children.

The first John Hewett was Born on April 7. 1784 and died August 13, 1884. William Hewitt Jr., Samuel Hewitt, Sarah Hewitt and Hannah Hewitt All later changed the spelling of their names to Hewett. If you are a descendant of these Hewett or Hewitt families then this is your network. We are setting up a special server to accommodate all our families needs on the internet. We are making available free personal e mail accounts and Web Page hosting. The E Mail system is up and running and we are still working on Hosting web pages.

All our e-mail addresses will be your choice of a name followed by @thehewitt.net. For example my e mail address is ambushed@thehewitt.net . All web pages will have a URL "thehewitt.net" followed by the name of your page. Example: http://thehewitt.net/june.html. When completed family members will be able to refer to this page as a directory service . You will be able to locate and or make contact with other family members via e mail.

Free web space will also be available for our family members. As we become more sophisticated additional free services will be introduced. This is not a gimmick or commercial enterprise it is a genuine jester of good will to our family and friends.
